What a self-filled cigarette costs you

The three numbers behind your cost per cigarette: your tobacco price, your tube price and how much tobacco you use.

By FillMaticPro TeamUpdated 1 min read

What one self-filled cigarette costs you comes down to three numbers: what you pay for your tobacco, what you pay for your tubes, and how much tobacco goes into each cigarette. Change any of the three and your cost per cigarette changes with it.

What determines your cost per cigarette

  • The price you pay per 100g of tobacco.
  • The price you pay per tube.
  • How many grams of tobacco go into one cigarette, usually somewhere between 0.6 and 0.7.

Work out your own cost price

Use our cost calculator to enter your own prices and your own tobacco use. It returns the cost price of a single cigarette, split into the tobacco part and the tube part. On top of that comes the machine itself, a one-off purchase: semi-automatic cigarette machines are the most affordable way to start, and replacement rubbers and maintenance sets keep it filling evenly for years.

Does quality suffer?

No. You choose your own tobacco and your own tubes, so you control the blend, the filter and how firmly each tube is packed.
